All these pronouncements admit our moral obligation to respect all living creatures, role of companion animals in the society, awareness that companion animals are not always kept in conditions that promote their health and well-being, as well as the measures of humane ways to protect the companion animals and to control the abandonment of animals. To date, we have not seen any action regarding the stray animal issue.

Do not tolerate the indulgence by Member State's governments that have failed or are unwilling to solve the suffering of the homeless animals. Condemn deliberate starvation, gross neglect, abandonment and execution - tens of thousands dogs are forced to suffer and die. STOP THIS MADNESS NOW - by demanding that the EU take their responsibilities!
We want the elected politicians in the EU to have, good values, being ethical and moral in their decisions about animals.
Europe has a very serious stray animal issue, which is
unknown or ignored by many Europeans. An estimated 100 - 150 million
stray animals live in Europe, either in municipal enclosures that are
mostly prisons for the animals without proper care or they are living on the
streets.
The EU is well aware that companion animals are suffering in many Member States. The treatment of stray dogs in the EU is subject to regular complaints by EU citizens and their concern about the animals. However, the matter still remains under the responsibility of the Member States, and the European Commission has no power to take particular action in this field - but they can if they want or are forced to - by us, the European citizens.
